Everyone around Scarlett the pit bull was losing hope. Over three years had gone by, and the one-eyed, deaf rescueliving atAnimal Welfare League of Queen Countyshelterstillhadn’t been adopted.
Until fate intervened…
For over half her life, Scarlett lived in a shelter.
The lovable, disabled, five-year-old pit bull spent her days charming rescue visitors and staffers alike.
And who could resist? Scarlett is a serious cutie.
As Kirstyn Northrop Cobb, the shelter’s manager put it,“she is such a cuddle bug.”
“She is the most cuddly dog ever! She will just melt into you and sit on your lap and give you kisses.”
Perspective parents, though, kept passing on adopting Scarlett due to her chronic health issues.
Aside from being half blind, Scarlett suffered from horrible chronic ear infections…a likely cause for her deafness.
In fact, her original owners released her to the shelter back in 2013 because they couldn’t keep up with her mounting medical bills.
Andwhile she’s perfectly healthy now, Scarlett’s still not the most active pup.
Scarlett’snaturally docile nature began working against her, making the more active pups around her feel like more exciting adoption options.
