Today’s Teens Are Having Less Sex And Using More Birth Control Than Ever Before

Unless you were inflicted withbraces and a mullet like I wasback in my high school days, odds are you were having sex in high school.

And, sure, there was also chance you were taking birth control. But, also like meand my friends in high school, you could have managed to live a perfectly normal life as a perfectly normal teen without taking it.

Turns out your sexually-active, not-taking-birth-control-self would be quite the freakazoid amongthe teens of today. Why do I say that? Well, every two years, the federal government puts out a gigantic report on the state of American teenagers. And this year’s report found that teens are less sexually active than ever, and using more birth control than ever. They’re so well-behaved!

Just take a looksy at this first graph right here, as reported by Vox:

Well over half of the teens in 2015 have never even had sex! In fact, the amount of teens having sex in general is at an all time low. Just LOOK at that drop.

Beyond that, the fewteens who actually are having sex are probably having safer sex than you were. Check out this graph:

Over the past four years, the number of teens who responded “yes” when asked whether or not they were using any form of birth control has increased by 15 percent. 15 percent! That’s huge.

In addition to using more contraceptives, today’s teens are usingbettercontraceptives. Instead of relying solely on condoms to keep them from being pregnant, you can see on the graph that more and more teens are using some form of hormonal birth control.

All of thisprobably factors into whythe past few decades have seen the lowest teen pregnancy rates of all time. This is all great news!

Just one concern:What does this say about the future of MTV hitshow “Teen Mom”?!
