Plus-size model Ashley Graham has exploded onto the scene the past couple of years, landing on the cover last year of Sports Illustrated and a spot as a judge on Americas Next Top Model.
Let’s just take a minute here to say it’s pretty much a load of crap that she’s still referred to as “plus-size” when she is actually smaller than the average woman, healthy, and fit.
With that said, she was told she would never be on the cover of Vogue for that reason, but you can find her on the March issue along with Liu Wen, Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, Imaan Hammam, Adwoa Aboah, and Vittoria Ceretti.
According to Vogue, each model “proudly inhabits her own particular gorgeousness in her own particular way. Together they represent a seismic social shift: The new beauty norm is no norm.”
In the accompanying cover story, Ashley said:
That’s awesome, but what isn’t so awesome is the reaction on Instagram, as people felt that a couple of things were “off.”
Not only Ashley covering her leg, but the apparent Photoshop of Gigi’s mutant hand.
